Ko wai ahau?
Who am I?
Ko Mereana Pou ahau. I am a proud mother and grandmother, grounded in my whānau and whakapapa. I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and currently serve as Poutāhi at Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa, where I support the strengthening of Māori leadership and capability within Māori Martial Arts.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi.
Current Role
I am one of the Kaihautū for Te Korowai Waka Rōpū and a Cultural Advisor for Te Hiku Hauora. I have over 10 years’ experience within the Northern District Health Board, supporting the Māori Health Directorate, Public Health Services, and School-Based Community Health Services.
As Kaitiaki of Ngā Wānanga o Hine Kōpū, I mentor Pou Tūārā who facilitate kaupapa Māori antenatal wānanga across Te Tai Tokerau. In my current role as Poutiaki at Te Hiku Hauora, I work to ensure mātauranga Māori is embedded and normalised within our everyday practice.
